Restaurant: JB Malaysian Cuisine

On Saturday, we went out with our friends to a dinner at JB Malaysian Cuisine (JB stands for Johor Bahru). Our friend wanted to give the restaurant a try after a quick taste sometime in the past.

As for us, we've been ordering take-out lunches from JB for a while but limited to a set of choices: Hainanese Chicken Rice, Penang Char Koay Teow, Mee Goreng. So this is a good opportunity to explore their other offerings.

After discussing what to get, we opted for the dinner special for four people. The aunt was nice as well as she offered for a customized experience in case we had some issue with one of the choices for the packaged dinner special.

Curry Brisket
First one to come out from the kitchen is the Indonesian Curry Brisket. I have to disagree as this isn't authentic. Taste-wise it's pretty good though.

Hainanese Chicken
Second dish, my favorite one, is the "safety" dish: Hainanese Chicken. I can't get bored eating Hainanese Chicken (with the rice) if I got stranded in Malaysia or Singapore.

Tom Yum Soup
If there's a dish that we would like to switch is probably the Tom Yum soup. The taste isn't anywhere near Thai Tom Yum. This is probably some sort of variance of Tom Yum modified to fit Malaysian taste (or something, I don't know, I'm just making things up :)).

Having said that, it tastes OK and some of us like it.

Sambal Kang Kong
Fourth dish showed up and the table was almost running out of space. Got to have vegetables as it's healthy right? :)

Like the Sambal Kang Kong because it reminded me of a very similar dish from my hometown.

Sea Bass Steak
The last dish showed up at the right time after we finished one or two earlier dishes to make room for this one.

All of us like the Sea Bass Steak but alas, we were pushing the limit of our stomaches.

The "Dinner Special for 4" is priced at $68. A little bit pricey but we're satisfied with the food.

One note though: parking is a little bit tricky because there isn't any parking lot specifically for JB Malaysian Cuisine restaurant so the choice is either Safeway or Wholesale parking lot across the street.
